When to Use: The best time to apply a foot cream is immediately after showering, as your feet will be wet and thus, more absorbent of the minerals and nutrients found in many foot creams.

Regular use of our foot butter can also benefit people suffering from athlete’s foot, toenail fungus, or fatigue. For that matter, foot butter can benefit almost anyone who likes a good pampering at the end of a stressful day.

Jojoba Oil, Buxus sinensis, expeller pressed from the jojoba bean, has been used for skin and hair care for hundreds of years. Jojoba (pronounced “ho-ho-ba) oil is not an oil but liquid wax. It penetrates the skin easily, has anti-inflammatory actions and can be used on acne without any problems. It is great for mature, aging skin and exceptional mildness for sensitive skin.

Hemp Seed Oil, Cannabis sativa, is not, as so many people assume, the same plant as marijuana. It is a non-narcotic variety. Hempseed oil, expeller pressed from a tiny nut, contains about 20 to 35 percent protein. One of the world’s richest sources of polyunsaturated fats, it contains more naturally occurring essential fatty acids (EFA) than any other plant-derived oil. Peppermint, Mentha piperata, is minty, strong and fresh oil with cooling, refreshing and deodorant properties. Peppermint’s cooling power comes from the high percentage of menthol in its leaves. Menthol has antibacterial properties and is used externally in liniments to stimulate nerve endings and increase local blood flow. Tea Tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, fungicide and deodorant, refreshes, stimulates and deep cleans the skin and scalp. Australian Aborigines discovered that the oil from the leaves of the tea tree provided a natural cure for a wide variety of ailments and it is often referred to by Australians as a “first aid kit in a bottle.” The oil is extracted from the tree leaves by distillation. A valuable medicinal oil, tea tree helps heal infections and skin disorders and fights acne without causing dryness or other side affects of modern day acne treatments. The scent is medicinal and penetrating, but many describe it as clean and refreshing.

Next to thyme, it is the most antiseptic of all oils. It is safer to use, and unlike thyme, can be used “neat” or undiluted. Its antiseptic and healing properties make it a wonderful natural treatment for rosacea caused by dermodex mites.

Lavender, Lavendula officinalis, extracted from flowering tops of the lavender plant, has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-septic properties. Lavender is believed to stimulate the immune system to promote healing and ease inflammation. Lavender tones the skin and is useful for acne, oily skin, burns, sunburn, wounds, eczema, psoriasis and insect bites.

Sweet Basil, Ocimum basilicum, has a warm, spicy, herbal aroma with an anise-like scent. Extremely effective in treating skin disorders, basil enlivens dull-looking skin and improves skin tone.

Turmeric oil has anti-bacterial properties that help treat wounds and hasten healing, therefore preventing spread of infection. Turmeric has powerful antioxidant activities which helps reduce the growth of tumor cells of the skin. Curcumin in turmeric also regulates certain growth factors and signaling molecules, in the tumor cells that ultimately arrest the growth of these cells.

Turmeric has been scientifically proven to control oil and microbial growth on the skin. It also shows antioxidant activity that helps reduce acne and prevent their future occurrence. Turmeric, through its soothing and healing effects, reduces the inflammation, itching and other symptoms of eczema and helps restore the original skin texture.
